Sapporo International Citizen Partners
As part of efforts to make Sapporo an international and intercultural city, the Sapporo Foreign Resident Partner Program widely recruits and registers foreign residents who wish to utilize their own experiences and cultural background through volunteer activities.
Based on requests from organizations seeking the support of foreign residents, the Sapporo International Communication Plaza Foundation (SICPF) provides information about volunteer activities to Sapporo International Citizen Partners and other foreign residents.
Examples of activities
1. Helping at events organized by SICPF or the City of Sapporo (introducing your county, attending cultural exchange events, etc.)
2. Assisting community events (activities organized by neighborhood association, beach cleanups, etc.) as staff members.

Sapporo International Citizen Partners Program
This is a registration system for foreign residents who wish to contribute to community development in Sapporo through volunteer activities. Volunteers are recruited based on requests from organizations that require the cooperation of foreign residents.
Registration
By registering, you will receive information about volunteer activities via email from the Sapporo International Communication Plaza Foundation (SICPF).
Eligibility
Foreign residents living in or near Sapporo City who are interested in contributing to community development through volunteer work.
Registration Requirements

Ability to communicate in Japanese or English (at a daily conversational level)

Willingness to cooperate with the SICPF, other volunteers, and other people involved.
How to Register
- Those who wish to register should fill out the required information on the Registration Form and agree to the Handling of Personal Information and Volunteer Terms of Commitment
- When volunteer opportunities are available, SICPF will inform you via email. You can then apply for any opportunities that suit your interests and availability.
Information to be Registered
- Basic information such as name, contact information, occupation
- Nationality, native language, intended period of residence
- Specialties: Interests, field of expertise, skills, ability
Types of Activities
Eligible Activities
The Sapporo International Communication Plaza will provide information about volunteer activities that are beneficial to the public and suitable for cooperation, based on requests
from organizations seeking support from foreign residents.
*Note: Activities conducted by individuals, or those for commercial, political, or religious purposes, as well as language teaching, translation, or interpretation, are not eligible.
Examples of activities
- Cooperation in projects organized by SICPF or Sapporo City (e.g., introducing your home country’s culture, participating in discussions about city administration)
- Assisting community events (activities organized by neighborhood association, beach cleanups, etc.)
- Acting as a monitor or advisor
- Joining or supporting other projects deemed appropriate by SICPF
Participation Conditions
In principle, the requested organization will cover transportation costs and provide insurance coverage for accidents related to volunteer activities. However, conditions may vary for
each activity, so please make sure to check the details before applying.
