Homestay Volunteers

SICPF has established a homestay volunteer system where foreign guests visiting Sapporo for international exchange purposes can stay in the citizen volunteers' households.
This goals of this program are to deepen understanding of each other's countries and differences in culture and customs, and to promote exchange by having guests experience daily life in Sapporo/Japan.

SICPF homestay program is supported by the volunteers' goodwill. This family visit/stay program, which is aimed at offering interaction between guests and homestay families, can range from half a day to a few days. This program is not merely an offering of inexpensive accommodation or long-term housing.

In principle, only guests who can be verified by institutions in Sapporo will be accepted.
Example: International students belonging to universities or colleges in Sapporo, participants of international exchange projects in Sapporo, etc.
※ We do not accept individual travelers and group travelers.

“Home Sweet Homestay” is a program for international students studying in Hokkaido.By experiencing a homestay with host families in various areas, you can learn aboutJapanese life, culture, and customs, and have the opportunity to experience dailyconversations in Japanese. We look forward to you taking advantage of this program.

To apply, please contact the reception organization in each area through your school's academic affairs office, student affairs office, or other person in charge of international students.

For New International Students in the Sapporo Area

The Sapporo International Communication Plaza offers a homestay program for new international students coming to study at universities and colleges in the Sapporo area. This program aims to ease students’ concerns about accommodation upon arrival and to provide opportunities for cultural exchange with host families, helping them start their student life smoothly.

The homestay period is up to five nights and is free of charge.

To apply, please contact your school's academic affairs office, student affairs office, or other staff in charge of international students.
We recommend applying about one month before your arrival in Japan.
